Mohammed Salisu shines in Ghana defeat to Brazil

The Black Stars were thrashed 3-0 in France by World Cup favourites Brazil as the Black Stars poor record against the Selecao continues. Ghana have assembled a strong side in their pre-world cup friendlies starting with a difficult task against Brazil last Friday at Stade Océane.

Brazil run riot over Ghana after 90′ minutes, thanks to goals from Marquinhos and Richarlison double were enough to hand Tite’s side victory in their first September International break.

Ghana named their starting XI without Mohammed Salisu but came in in the second half to take the Black Stars to another level. Ghana were down 3-0 before the first half as Brazil failed to add any goal in the second half.

Salisu was Ghana’s first change coming in for Felix Afena-Gyan on the 46′ minute and showed a five-star performance in Ghana’s 3-0 defeat to Brazil in an international friendly on Friday.

The Kumasi-based lad has finally made his long-awaited debut for Black Stars after previously rejecting Ghana’s invitations.
Mohammed Salisu accepted to honour Ghana’s invite in July after several invitations to play for the Black Stars were turned down.
Salisu was deployed at the left side of Otto Addo’s 3-back system flanked by Denis Odoi and Baba Rahman on the right and left back respectively. He was one of the reasons why Ghana never conceded the fourth goal after clearing the ball off the line twice.
Ghana take on Nicaragua on Tuesday and Salisu is expected to start. The EPL star had rejected Ghana’s call-up ahead of 2021 AFCON in Cameroon where the Black Stars exited the group stages of the African competition.
Ahead of Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, Mohammed Salisu reconsider his decision to join the Black Stars.
