Zamalek have own version of Al Ahly target after signing Samson Akinyoola from Caracas FC at beginning of season

Zamalek have get their own version of Al Ahly transfer target after the defending champions completing the signing of Beninses forward Samson Akinyoola from Venezuelan side Caracas FC.

Prior to start of the ongoing season, Zamalek were linked with several names and managed to sign Senegalese forward Ibrahima Ndiaye, Moroccan midfielder Zakaria El Wardi, Egyptian defenders Mostafa El-Zennari, Omar Gaber and midfielder Nabil Emad, keeper Mohamed Sobhy and Benin attacker Samson Akinyoola.

Akinyoola, who began his professional career in Nigeria, had been linked with Zamalek for months following his displays in Venezuela scoring 28 goals and providing 11 assists for side Caracas before switching camp for Zamalek. The forward has signed a three year deal and has had life underway at Zamalek.

The Benin International has failed to find the rhythm though scoring just once in 5 Egyptian Premier League games so far. He still remains one of the talented players in the Egyptian top flight.

Akinyoola has been likened to Al Ahly target Afriyie Barnieh with the Egyptian Premier title leaders hoping to land the forward from Ghana Premier League side Hearts of Oak this January.

Al Ahly are in negotiations with Hearts with reports suggesting the two parties are nearing deal for Barnieh.

Should Barnieh joined Al Ahly this January, the spotlight will be between him and Akinyoola as both hope to aid their club’s chase for the Egyptian Premier League title.

Akinyoola and Barnieh have similar qualities but could be in rivalry if the Ghanaian International joins the other half of Cairo.
