Asante Kotoko right-back Christopher Nettey reveals he was chased by Medeama Sporting Club

Asante Kotoko right-back Christopher Nettey has revealed how he snubbed Medeama Sporting Club for Kotoko beginning of the season.

Kotoko completed a three year deal for the defender from De Visser Academy before the start of the 2019-2020 season.

Nettey, 21, has enjoyed a good start to life at Baba Yara starting almost every game under Maxwell Konadu, with impressive 13 league games this season.

The 21-year-old has now revealed he was wanted by Medeama SC after the club’s boss Samuel Boadu approached him at Black Stars B camp.

”During my time in the local black stars, I was approached by coach Samuel Boadu of Medeama who was willing to sign me immediately. I was dropped before the WAFU tournament in Senegal,” Nettey told sportsafric

”I had a call one day from Godwin Attram asking me to park my things but I will move to Kumasi to join Asante Kotoko. I was with Great Olympics by then.

”I trained with the team for a week and was featured in the President Cup which we won 2-1 against Accra Hearts of Oak at Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi.”

Nettey was brought in to replaced Amos Frimpong having the Warriors captain joined Guinea Premier League side AS Kaloum Star last summer.

Frimpong led Kotoko to the 2018-2019 CAF Confederation Cup group stage before winning the Normalization Committee Special Competition for Kotoko in 2019.
