AFCON U-23- Relentless Morocco whitewash Ghana 5-1 in second group game

Relentless Morocco beat Ghana 5-1 in second group game of the AFCON U-23 in Rabat.

After both teams winning their opening games, it was a contest for Group A top spot as Morocco proved superior in Tuesday night football. The hosts took shocking 3-0 lead after the 30th minute mark as the Black Meteors were left with a huge task to fight back if there ever was any intent to do so at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

Amir Richardson, Ismael Saibari, Yanis Begraoui found their names on the score sheet in the first 30 minutes but Ghana pulled one back after Salim Adams scored from Fatawu Issahaku’s rebound two minutes to the end of the first half.

Fatawu Issahaku reduced Ghana’s deficit to only one after his sensational carpet long range shot found bottom right corner but a VAR review saw the goal ruled off.

Within proceeding, the ball went off the line in a thrown-in for Morocco in their own half.

Ghana was the team to control affairs of the game right to the end of the first half. A situation that means the Black Meteors stole possession from Morocco.

The home side came into the second half like they did in the beginning of the first half marking their dominance with an early goal to send the tally to 4-1 three minutes into the second half.

Abde Ezzalzouli was the scorer and Yanis Begraoui got his second of the night five minutes after Ezzalzouli’s strike as Ghana were left scrambling on the ground.

Morocco continued their dominance grabbing the sixth in stoppage time but it was ruled offside after VAR review.

Morocco go top of Group A with 6 points and will take on Congo in final group game. The Black Meteors who sit third after Guinea’s win over Congo earlier the day will take on second place Guinea on Friday evening.
