Asante Kotoko announce right-back Samuel Appiah and Richard Boadu transfers from Medeama SC

Asante Kotoko have announced the transfer of Samuel Appiah from Medeama Sporting Club according to the club’s official twitter handle.

The Ghana Premier League side have in recent weeks began their transfer activities announcing deals for Richmond Lamptey, Samuel Boateng, Maxwell Agyemang, teenagers Clinton Opoku and Isaac Oppong whiles transfers of Richard Boadu and Samuel Appiah had been agreed with Medeama after the Tarkwa based side confirmed the deals last week.

“We have reached an agreement with Asante Kotoko SC for the permanent transfer of midfielder Richard Boadu and defender Samuel Appiah.”

“We thank the two players for their outstanding contributions to the club,” part of a statement on the Twitter page of Medeama SC said.

It’s the turn of Kotoko to officially announced one of the last two agreed transfers after taking to twitter to confirm the switch of Samuel Appiah from Tarkwah TNA to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The right-back has been linked with a move to Kotoko since the end of last season but completing the formalities were a major stumbling block.

With the Ghanaian outfit ready to send Samuel Frimpong out on loan, the push for new right-back Appiah increased in the last month before agreeing a deal with Medeama days ago.

Samuel Frimpong has struggled for game time since completing a move from Karela United to Kotoko in January 2020.

Last season, he fell behind Christopher Nettey in the pegging order and he could be set to leave for a loan spell ahead of next season having extended his Kotoko contract in May this year until June 2023.

Karela United, Aduana Stars, Ash Gold and Legon Cities could be the possible loan destinations for Samuel Frimpong.

Asante Kotoko have already thought about Frimpong’s replacement luring on the flip side Samuel Appiah who enjoyed a fine season with Medeama last season.

The Ghanaian International has signed a three year deal with Asante Kotoko as the Porcupine Warriors continue with their re-building journey.

Appiah is Kotoko’s fourth major signing with more senior figures expected to join. Transfers of Medeama midfielders Justice Blay and Richard Boadu could also be announced having the Tarkwah side already confirmed Boadu’s move to Kotoko last Friday.

Kotoko has also announced the transfer of Richard Boadu few hours after Appiah’s announcement. The Black Stars B midfielder initially snubbed Kotoko for Serbian but a proposed move to FK Partizan Belgrade failed.

“We are delighted to announce the signing of midfield enforcer Richard Boadu on a three-year deal from Medeama SC.”

Besides, Ash Gold ace Seth Osei have been linked with a move to the Ghanaian Premier League giants but the Miners asking price has stalled the deal.

Having said that, Ugandan forward Steven Dese Mukwala could also be on his way to the Reds; Mukwala who nearly joined Kotoko at the beginning of last season emerged as the top scorer of the Ugandan top flight last two seasons ago netting 13 goals in 23 appearances while on loan at Kampala based Maroon FC from Vipers SC.
