Black Stars returns to winning ways after beating Nicaragua in Spain as Fatawu Issahaku scores only goal of the game

Ghana Black Stars have returned to winning ways since Kirin Cup victory over Chile in June. Ghana beat Nicaragua in second friendly in September’s international break. The Black Stars were thrashed 3-0 by Brazil last Friday in France before facing Nicaragua in second game in Spain.

Ghana took the lead from individual brilliance of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku who cut inside from the right and curled into the far left of the posts. Both teams failed to create decent chances in a slow pace game in the first half at Estadio Francisco Artes Carrasco.

Daniel-Kofi Kyereh began to lead Ghana early in the second half and one of his magics saw him lofted a long pass over Nicaragua’s defense for Osman Bukari to assist Inaki Williams for the Bilbao forward’s first goal but the effort was ruled offside.

Bukari was offside when he received the pass from Daniel-Kofi Kyereh. Ghana turned into a more fluid side as Kudus Mohammed exchanged with Bukari who defiled a return pass to Kudus for Inaki Williams but the Bilbao attacker hit his effort against Nicaragua goal-keeper Douglas Forvis Espinoza.

Ghana eventually took full dominance and nearly doubled their lead on the 71′ minute after Daniel-Kofi Kyereh exchanged nicely with Gideon Mensah down the flank. The left-back send a low one across as Williams touch to goal was blocked.

Ghana dispossessed Nicaragua in their own half as Inaki Williams was fed, the bulky striker run through the defense before feeding Kudus Mohammed at the left edge but the Ajax attacking midfielder struck against Douglas Forvis.

There has become some level of understanding among Inaki Williams, Kudus who had been moved up front, Bukari and Daniel-Kofi Kyereh. Kudus retracted possession and fed Williams at the left edge but the forward opted for a pass to Kofi Kyereh who struck inches away.

Ghana scored the second goal seven minutes to full time through Kudus Mohammed but the move was ruled offside. Thanks to Daniel-Kofi Kyereh who lofted a long pass over for Bukari, the winger fed close Williams who fed Kudus at the far post as the Ajax man hit into the net.

Andre Ayew, Antoine Semenyo and Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer entered the game and Semenyo nearly got his debut goal for the Black Stars but his effort from the left edge went into the arms of Douglas Forvis.

Kudus nearly scored from Semenyo’s position from two separate moments but the Ajax attacker’s strikes missed the target.

Jordan Ayew and Ghana Premier League forward Afriyie Barnieh who plays for Hearts of Oak joined the game late as the game ended 1-0 after 90′ minutes in Spain.
