Caleb Ekuban marks 100th appearance for Trabzonspor as forward bags a goal in stalemate against Goztepe

Ghanaian forward Caleb Ekuban chalked a monumental feat when he scored to rescue a point against Goztepe on his 100th match for Trabzonspor on Wednesday.

Ekuban initially joined the Black Sea Stormers on a one-year loan contract from English side Leeds United during the 2018/19 season.

The 27-year-old’s impressive performance promoted Trabzonspor to sign him on a permanent deal.

On Wednesday, the Ghana international clocked his 100th game for Abdullah Avci’s side with a goal as Trabzonspor rallied to hold Goztepe in the 38th week of the Turkish Supalig.

Goztepe had opened the scoring through veteran Macedonian forward Adis Jahovic on the stroke of half time.

The former Chievo Verona striker has scored 28 goals and 17 assists in 100 matches with the burgundy-blue team.

Speaking after the match, Ekuban said, “It was important to show that we did not give up.”

“First of all, it was a game that we did not start well. We had 10 people left at the exact moment we were recovering.

We won only one point by scoring but showing that stance was the important thing to show that we will never give up.”

Ekuban has now scored 10 goals in 30 games across all competitions this season.
