Wydad Casablanca beat Simba 4-3 on penalties to set likely Mamelodi Sundowns semifinals clash

Wydad Athletic Club book semifinals place of the African Champions League after beating Simba Sporting Club 4-3 on penalties in second leg of the quarter finals in Morocco.

WAC won 1-0 to draw the tie 1-1 on aggregate after losing 1-0 in the first leg in Tanzania.

The visitors appeared to have come into the return leg for business remaining resilient in the early openings but Senegalese forward Bouly Sambou rose to an occasion to put Wydad Athletic Club ahead on 24′ minute.

WAC looked relieved after breaking the deadlock and began coming forward patiently. They nearly doubled the lead some minutes after the lead having worked their way through from the right edge but Sambou’s connection missed the target by inches.

Simba diminished in confidence though but there were moments they got their chances to equalized however failed.

Wydad got the second goal early in the 2n half but was ruled offside. Both teams failed to change the score line as WAC won 1-0 after 90′ minutes. The tie was send to penalties with the Moroccan outfit winning 4-3 to book semifinals clash against either Mamelodi Sundowns or CR Beloiuzdad.

Sundowns lead 4-1 from the first leg away as they host CR Beloiuzdad on Saturday afternoon.

On penalty shoot out, Simba missed 2 kicks scoring the remaining 3 while WAC scored all 4 kicks.
