Kwadwo Obeng Jr. only goal hands Hearts of Oak win over King Faisal

A first half superb strike from Kwadwo Obeng Junior secured Hearts of Oak an important home win over King Faisal at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Hearts of Oak managed to record a 1-0 victory over King Faisal FC in their Ghana Premier League match-week 15 clash on Sunday afternoon.

The Phobians commenced the fixture on a bright note as they staged an intense pressure on King Faisal to open the score before the break.
The visitors looked calmed in the first half as the hosts kept mounting pressure on them for the opener.
Striker Kwadwo Obeng Junior snatched the opener with a spectacular drive on the 24th minute to hand Hearts of Oak the lead.
The Phobians continued to dominate the game as Obeng Junior came closed once again to double the lead but his effort was denied by the woodwork.
Hearts of Oak looked dangerous in the final ten minutes of the match as they kept controlling at all departments but none of their efforts gave them an additional goal.
Goalkeeper Richmond Ayi made a magnificent save to deny Zubairu Ibrahim from levelling the score on the stroke of halftime.
The first department of the game ended in a 1-0 win in favor of Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In the second half, Hearts of Oak upfront kept knocking for more goals as Kwadwo Obeng Junior came closed once again with an audacious strike but his effort went off target.

A minute after the hour-mark, King Faisal had a golden opportunity to level the score through Mawuli Wayo but he blasted it wide as a strike from Osman Ibrahim was saved by Ayi on the 63rd minute.

Hearts of Oak made two tactical substitutions as Gladson Awako and Kofi Kordzi were introduced as replacement for Amankwah Baafi and Enock Asubonteng respectively.

Kofi Kordzi’s first touch of the ball nearly gave Hearts of Oak the second goal but his strike was cleared to corner-kick by Puis Baffour.

On the 67th minute, Salim Adams missed a golden opportunity after goalkeeper Frank Boateng had failed to deal with a corner-kick effected by William Dankyi.

King Faisal failed to level the score despite their amazing display in the last ten minutes of the game as it ended in a 1-0 win in favor of Hearts of Oak.
