Musah Nuhu: St. Gallen defender claims “it will be a great feeling to play in the 2021 AFCON”

Switzerland-based centre-back, Musah Nuhu has expressed his willingness and readiness to be part of the Black Stars 2021 Africa Cup of Nations squad, stating it will be a great feeling for him to accomplish that.

The former WAFA defender was included in the provisional man squad of the 2019 AFCON and joined their training camp in Dubai but suffered a painful injury which saw him being sidelined for almost a year after suffering series of setbacks in his rehabilitation.

The 24 year old has passed through the ranks as far as the Ghana national team is concerned having previously also featured for the Black Satellites and Black Meteors- where he played a key role in their qualification to the 2019 Africa U-23 Championship.

Speaking to JoySports in an exclusive interview, the Juventus Babies product feels elated to recover fully from his long injury but has now set sights on a sensational return into the senior national team. He said;

“Yes sure, because I feel like I’m over my injury now and I have started playing games. So if I get the call up to play in the African Cup, it’ll be a great feeling,” the defender said.

“We talk a lot about it. We talk about the way forward and everything. We most times discuss you know – it’s something internal that we feel like ‘what do you think we can do to go forward?’ So we have a lot of conversations when he comes back [from national team assignments].”

“Yeah sure. He’s the national team coach and I want to play for the national team.” He concluded

Musah Nuhu, 24, has been an integral figure for FC ST Gallen having started in most of their matches so far including a two time team of the week recognition in the Swiss topflight

The Afcon tournament starts early next year as Ghana will be hoping to lift the title that has eluded them since 1982. Over a couple of decades now, the West African giants have played twice the finals of the Africa competition losing to Egypt in 2010 and Ivory Coast in 2015.
