Chesterfield striker Akwasi Asante making huge progress in bid to return from long-term injury
Injured Chesterfield striker Akwasi Asante is slightly ahead of schedule in his battle to recover from the setback.
The 29-year-old has been out since April with a ruptured ACL and was ruled out of action for a period of nine months, at least.
However, the Dutch-born Ghanaian striker is making steady progress from the treatment room.
Asante is a reliable source of goals after plundering 10 goals in 22 appearances for the Blues before being knocked back by an injury.
The potential return of the 29-year-old is being waited patiently by the Spireites – who hope to have the star forward back for the second half of the campaign.
“Asante is a little bit ahead of schedule at the moment, which is really positive for us,” Chesterfield manager James Rowe said on Monday.
