Otto Addo explains why he made seven changes against Central African Republic

Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo has explained the reasons why he made seven changes against Central African Republic and has also defended that, it wasn’t a weak side.

The Black Stars got held by the Wild Beasts to a 1-1 stalemate at the 11 de Novembro Stadium in Luanda in match-day 2 of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

But, the talking point after the game was mainly centered on Black Stars coach Otto Addo’s decision to make seven changes in his line up in their last game, maintaining only Kudus Mohammed, Gideon Mensah and Daniel Amartey who started against Madagascar.
Speaking in a post-match presser, the Borussia Dortmund trainer, has stated he made those changes because he had injuries and health worries in camp with most of the players not feeling well prior to the game. He said;
“I think the team was not weak, we had a lot of ball possession, the problem was the goal we conceded because they were not made for that. We didn’t run enough behind their defence. We had injuries, others sick, some have weak legs that’s why I decided to make changes.”
The Black Stars after two matches are leading Group E with 4 points with the qualifiers set to resume in September with a double header against Angola.
Ghana will now travel to Japan for the Kirin Cup invitational tournament which is set to commence on June 10, 2022.
