Milovan Rajevac sees unnecessary Ghana changes against Morocco
Coach Milovan Rajevac has responded to claims that he didn’t make early substitutions in Ghana’s AFCON opener against Morocco, describing it as unnecessary
The Atlas Lions recorded a slim 1-0 triumph over Ghana in an epic Group C opener of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé last Monday.
The game was really a cagey one for both sides but a late Soufiane Boufal’s goal on the 82nd minute separated them after the final whistle.
The talking point in the west African country after the game has to do with the late changes made by Milovan Rajevac who made his first substitution in the game on the 86th minute.
The Serbian gaffer made three straight changes by introducing Fatawu Issahaku, Benjamin Tetteh, Daniel Kofi Kyereh before later bringing on Richmond Boakye Yiadom in the dying embers.
In response to those commentaries, the experience tactician believes things were working perfectly for him in the game hence realised a change in selection at that moment will be needless. He said;
“Everything was really tight and I felt the team was functioning well, so there was no need to make unnecessary substitutions, up till the moment we conceded, we were in full control of the match.”
The Black Stars will square off against the Panthers of Gabon in their next group game on Friday, January 14, 2022.
