Caleb Ekuban nets debut goal after four months in in Genoa  narrow victory over U.S. Salernitana

Ghana striker Caleb Ekuban on Tuesday scored his first goal for Genoa four months after joining the Italian side.

Ekuban was on target against U.S. Salernitana in the Copa Italia as Genoa secured a 1-0 win to advance to the next stage of the competition.

The striker had failed to score 14 games in all competitions prior to Tuesday’s match, and he looked sharp.

Ekuban earlier in the second half, missed the goal by inches with a strike from inside the box, but he made amends in the 76th minute as he scored from a header.

He picked the ball on the left, skipped one challenge and fed the ball to Yayah Kallon who found the striker with a cross from the left.

Genoa will face AC Milan in the round of 16 scheduled for January.

Ekuban signed a three-year contract with Genoa in August as he literally forced Turkish club Trabzonspor to sell him.
