Mohammed Kudus scores again as Ajax brush aside Fortuna Sittard in Eredivisie

Mohammed Kudus could not depart from scoring his first goal of the season after coming on as a sub to register it on the 77th minute in Ajax’s Tuesday fixture.

Ajax meanwhile extend their lead on the Eredivisie table to 16 points after beating bottom placed Fortuna Sittard 5-0 in away game on Tuesday evening.

Thanks to goals from Steven Berghuis, Noussair Mazraoui, Dusan Tadic, Mohammed Kudus and Nicolas Tagliafico that completed the emphatic victory.

The victory also extends Ajax unbeaten start to the season to 6 games; the only side remaining not to taste a league defeat.

The Ghanaian International made a significant impact in the game after scoring in the victory whiles creating problems for Fortuna Sittard who weren’t a bad side either given the latest score line.

Kudus have missed Ajax start of the season especially in their first five games after the Ghana International sustained injury in the pre-season.

Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag has struggled from the 21-year old’s absence after the Dutch manager stating in one of his post-match conference this season.

However, he was boosted in squad in-depth when the Ghanaian midfielder returned from injury to score in Ajax reserves’ 3-0 victory over Almere City last Friday.

Having fully recovered ahead of Fortuna Sittard today, the Ghanaian was only named in the subs as Steven Berghuis maintained his position. Thoughtfully, Berghuis opened the scores for the league leaders after 11’ minutes on the clock.

Mazraoui doubled Ajax’s lead 16’ minutes later before Tadic added a tally on the 38’ minute to send the away side 3-0 up in the first half.

Kudus came into the party right after start of the second half after Ten Hag sent out Berghuis for the Ghanaian International.

He opened more spaces upfront for Ajax from playing right behind deadly man Sebastein Haller who wrote his name in the UEFA Champions League history books last week after score four goals against Sporting CP in Lisbon to become the first player to hit four debut away goals in the competition.

It was surprise the Ivorian man, Haller, couldn’t find his name on the score sheet at instance where Ajax produced a marquee score line. However, the man who potentially should provide him with the assist did score after Kudus scoring from Tadic pass when it was 13′ minutes to full time.

This is the Ghanaian’s first goal of the season.
