Milovan Rajevac unwilling to accept payout terms from Ghana after being sacked due to poor Afcon performance

Ghana head coach Milovan Rajevac has reportedly refused to accept a juicy compensation package after the Ministry of Youth and Sports [MOYS] ordered his immediate sacking on Saturday.

The 68-year-old was relieved off his duties as head coach of the Black Stars following a disgraceful 2021 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Cameroon.

Ghana were crushed out of the African competition at the group stage after recording just one point from three round of matches.

The Serbian tactician is still under contract with the senior national team despite an order being given for his dismissal.

Rajevac’s sacking was finalized in a crunch meeting between the MOYS and the Ghana Football Association [GFA] on Friday, where the dismissal of the entire technical team was also concluded.

“The Ministry made it clear to the GFA that the people of Ghana have lost confidence in the capacity of the current technical team of the Black Stars to deliver success,” Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif said in a statement.

“The Ministry, therefore, asked the GFA to review the work and capacity of the Black Stars technical team led by the head coach Milovan Rajevac.”

However, fresh reports which has landed on our desk indicates, Rajevac has refused to accept a $270,000 (¢1,692,079.74 Ghanaian Cedis) settlement.

The compensation is said to be a three-month salary in lieu, but it is yet to be confirmed why the experienced gaffer turned down the hefty payout.

Rajevac’s supposed dismissal, comes just four months after he replaced Charles Kwabla Akonnor in the dugout.

With no official statement from the GFA having been forthcoming, confirming Rajevac’s sacking, though, divergent reports suggest that Rajevac is still the team’s head coach, with the FA said to have gone against the Ministry’s instruction to dismiss the manager in the belief that he could lead them to the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
