Achraf Hakimi on Man City radar as replacement for Kyle Walker

Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi could make a switch from the French Ligue 1 to the Premier League with Manchester City the likeliest destination.

Manchester City hold an interest in Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi, according to Marca.

Pep Guardiola is keen to acquire the services of a right-back this summer if Kyle Walker opts to join Bayern Munich, and Hakimi has identified as the ideal successor.

City have agreed personal terms with Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic signaling a closer of a deal for the Croatian International. Hakimi is the latest player linked with Pepe Guardiola’s side.

The Moroccan international has shone at PSG over the past few years and is widely-regarded as one of the best fullbacks in the world, and City are said to be willing to table an offer that would showcase that if they make their interest concrete.

Real Madrid are also cited as holding an interest in Hakimi, though Guardiola will be hoping that the lure of playing for his treble-winning side will prove decisive in negotiations.

Walker was dropped from City’s starting XI in Champions League final against Inter Milan and it partly explain why the Three Lion defender wants to leave Manchester for Munich.

Hakimi has two years left on his PSG contract and keen on moving away from Paris. It’s understood that the Moroccan wants a move to Real Madrid along with current teammate Kyilan Mbappe.

But City’s pedigree and treble status from last season could equally tempt the speedster to join Pep Guardiola’s side this summer.

Hakimi played all games in Morocco’s historic semifinals place of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
