Real Madrid tempted to make January move for Paul Pogba after French’s price reduction

Real Madrid have reportedly planned to lure Paul Pogba from Manchester United during the January transfer window according to reports.

The French International has saw reduction in his price primarily from a higher of £180million in July 2019 through £95milli0n to £53million in November 2020, with his price tag expected to decrease if he continues to show below par performances.

United triggered the one-year extension clause in Pogba’s contract earlier this year which will mean he will have one-year remaining next summer. AS report Pogba will be sold for only £53m with Real Madrid interested in the World Cup winner.

Real Madrid and Pogba have been linked with each other for some time now. And with the Laliga giants appearing quite in the just-ended-transfer window, Madrid may start doing business when the January window opens in a bid to bring new faces to the Spanish capital.

It is reckoned that Zidane is satisfied with current squad depth- though reinforcements are required in certain key areas including attacking department of Madrid’s midfield where Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are no longer getting younger.

Croatian captain Modric celebrated his 35th birthday just two months ago whiles Kroos who together with Modric have been influential in Madrid’s recent dominance in Europe enters his 31th years on earth in next two months and Pogba’s move to Santiago Bernabeu would be justified if a deal is struck.

Zidane is longer term admirer of his countryman and is understood to be convincing club President Florentino Pérez to sanction Pogba’s move since his first stint of Madrid’s affairs.

However, United’s huge price tag of £90million-£180million-on Pogba has been a stumbling block for the Laliga outfit, with Florentino Perez understood unwilling to splash more than £70million for the World Cup winner.

Pogba has under performed and received several criticisms especially from Manchester United legends since beginning of this season.

Besides, boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær is believed obsessed about Pogba’s starting position and would rather support a club decision to cash in on the 27-year old in order to avoid a situation of making the French International a regular bench warmer.

United now understand that they would no longer get their price tag (£90million-£180million) from sale of Pogba due to inconsistency in French’s performances and little time left on Pogba’s contract- that runs until summer 2022.

And the Old Trafford side will demand just £53million for Paul Pogba in the January or summer transfer window according to AS via the Manchester Evening News.

Real Madrid are reportedly planning a January transfer around Pogba’s situation according to the AS whiles Juve may open a battle with Real Madrid for Pogba’s signature.
