Ghana 5-0 Uganda: Black Princesses thrash Ugandan U-20 Women to progress into next round of FIFA World Cup qualifiers

The female national U-20 team of Ghana whitewashed Uganda 5-0 in the second leg tie of the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Ghana have progressed to the next stage of the qualification round on a 7-1 aggregate following today’s demolition exercise against the Ugandan U20 side.

Coach Ben Forkuo and his charges entered the fixture with a 2-1 first leg win against the Central African nation in the qualifiers.
The Ugandans looked dangerous in the first six minutes of the game but they failed hold on with such possession after conceding two quick goals before the half-hour mark.
Ghana gained possession to dominate the first half of the game as they looked much stronger than the visitors to register two goals in just three minutes.
On the 22nd minute, Skipper Evelyn Badu snatched the opener for the Black Princesses with a cool finish after connecting a low cross from Doris Boaduwaa.
Three minutes later, Coach Ben Forkuo’s side doubled the lead through Abdulai Salamatu to ensure them of ending the first half with a 2-0 lead.
The Ugandans could have registered a goal before the break but thanks to young goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan denied them with sparkling saves.
In the second half, the Black Princesses exercised their attacking muscles to run riot of scoring three goals.

Ben Fokuo made a tactical substitution with the introduction of Rahama Jafaru as replacement for Grace Asantewaa.

Substitute Rahama Jafaru extended lead for the Princesses on the 82nd minute of the game.

A late brace from Doris Boaduwaa completed Ghana’s resounding 5-0 home win over Uganda to book their ticket to next phase of the qualification round.

Ghana will now face Ethiopia in a two-legged fixture in the final round of the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
