Christophe Galtier on Kylian Mbappé injury: We do not think its too serious.

Speaking following Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-1 win over Montpellier on Wednesday evening, manager Christophe Galtier spoke about the injury which forced off Kylian Mbappé on the 20th minute of the game. Whilst L’Équipe reported that the injury could rule out the Frenchman for the crunch Champions League tie against Bayern Munich later this month, Galtier seemed more optimistic. The following words were transcirbed by RMC Sport.

Galtier said directly after the game to Canal+ that Mbappé “took a blow to the knee, behind the thigh. So we’ll see,” explained the 56-year old. The outlook was slightly more relaxed on Amazon Prime Video later in the evening, where the manager revealed that “He also has pain in the muscle. We don’t think it’s too serious.”

Mbappé had missed two penalties in quick succession against Benjamin Lecomte, and then ten minutes later he had to leave the pitch due to an injury following a tackle from Léo Leroy. The contact of the tackle happened on the right leg, but the Frenchman appeared to point his pain at his left thigh. Canal+ microphones caught the player saying to medical staff that “I’m in too much pain,” before returning to the PSG dressing room.
