Former Chelsea forward Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink makes verdict on Enzo Fernandes move to Chelsea as Argentine willing to join

Former Chelsea forward Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has make verdict on Blues move for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandes stating that despite the Argentine’s interest in moving to Stamford Bridge this January, Graham Potter’s side will not pay such huge amount of his release clause for his signature.

Fernandes is one of the player’s heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this month following his exploit in the Qatar World Cup though other clubs PSG, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are said to be interested in the Argentine International.

Since the end of the global competition in Qatar, the midfielder has been wishing to move to the next step of club career and it appears Chelsea he wants to join.

Fernandes has already shown his displeasure to stay at Benfica having boycott some training sessions but his release clause has become a major stumbling block for a deal with Chelsea to materialized with the Premier League outfit reportedly unwilling to pay the £105 million amount in the clause.

Chelsea want a deal they can negotiate and potentially see the benefits of paying less of this amount in totality or pay a little more but in installments- which Benfica are not satisfied with such approach to completing the deal.

Talks have stalled now but key report suggests Chelsea are confident of landing the risen-to-prominence midfielder this month. And former Chelsea attacker Hasselbaink thinks Chelsea will not complete the deal in the phase of Fernandes’ £105 million release clause.

“I think Enzo wants to come to Chelsea but Chelsea value him at a lot less than the rumoured £105 million. I don’t think they are going to pay it. My information is that Chelsea don’t want to pay that amount and that it’s going to be a lot less.”

Chelsea have reportedly penciled some potential alternatives with the Blues readying a 50 pounds offer for Southampton star Romeo Lavia if Fernandes deal fails. With that claimed by talkSPORTS, Chelsea will contact Southampton right away when they understand they can no longer get Enzo Fernandes.
