Chelsea set to announce Joao Felix loan signing as forward debut analyzed

Chelsea are set to confirm the loan signing of Joao Felix as their fourth January arrival, and fans may not have to wait long for his debut.

The Blues are understood to be paying around £10million to take the striker off Atletico Madrid’s hands for six months, along with paying his full wages to take the total outlay just shy of £16m.

It’s a transfer of necessity for a player Atletico made available ahead of the window and for a club in need of more firepower up front as the likes of Kai Havertz, Raheem Sterling and the woeful Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continue to misfire.

Chelsea are next in action against Fulham in Thursday’s London derby and Felix will be eligible to play should the club register him before midday on Wednesday.

Felix has been in London since Tuesday evening to finalise the details of the move and complete a medical, though there remains no confirmation of the player’s availability to face Fulham.

Chelsea will likely confirm upon confirmation of the move, which is expected later today Wednesday, or at Graham Potter’s press conference, which is set for 1.30pm UK time and similar across some European and African countries.
