N’Golo Kante to snub Arsenal and Barca to be part of Chelsea exciting new project

N’Golo Kante will reportedly snub advances from Arsenal and Barcelona in the summer after the French International revealing his plans to be part of the new and exciting project at Chelsea next season.

Both Chelsea and Kante have not had the best of campaign this season with injuries limiting the player’s availability this term. Chelsea have suffered managerial challenges with Graham Potter replacing Champions League winner Thomas Tuchel in Septembe at the initial before continual poor run of results saw the Englishman fired for Frank Lampard to replaced him.

Meanwhile Lampard has not been able to turn the tables around with new manager expected to be appointed at the end of the season, former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is the frontrunner to take over from Frank Lampard next season.

Like Chelsea, Kante hasn’t enjoyed a great season with injuries limiting him to just six Premier League starts. The 32-year old bounced back strongly ahead of Champions League against Real Madrid but Chelsea succumbed to the European champions in the quarter-finals of the European competition.

Kante’s contract which expires at the end of the term darkens his Chelsea future with Arsenal and Barcelona planning to land the former Leicester City man in summer.

Besides, new development in midfield could also limit Kante’s chances with Chelsea reportedly eager to sign a new central midfielder to add up to the numbers of Mateo Kovacic, Enzo Fernandes, Conor Gallagher, Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount though Mount could also leave at the end of the term after failing to be given new contract extension.

It’s however marked by Metro that Chelsea are keen to secure Kante’s services for at least one more campaign meaning Kante will be part of season project which starts next season.

Kante has stated he wants to be part of that exciting project at Stamford Bridge.

Asked if he wanted to stay at Chelsea, Kante told Sky Sports: ‘For sure. It’s an exciting project for the club.

‘Unfortunately this season hasn’t been to Chelsea’s standards. But everyone wants to go in this way, the way of success and winning titles.

‘I hope this club will again fight in this direction. Let’s see where I will be but I hope that this is a change for the club, that is most important.’

Chelsea have sorely missed Kante for much of this season, slipping to 11th in the Premier League – closer to the relegation zone than the Champions League spots.

The Blues will hope Kante’s injury issues are behind him, with the player saying of his lay-off and rehabilitation: ‘It was the purpose of the surgery, to come back strong.

‘At the moment I feel good, hopefully it’ll carry on like this. For the last weeks I’ve been playing I’ve felt very good.

‘Hopefully I can carry on for the rest of the season and hopefully the most difficult part is behind me, and I’m able to forget it – enjoying football again and wins again. Hopefully more success [too].’

The French World Cup winner has been one of the most influential players at Chelsea since his move from Leicester City in 2016, winning the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup at Stamford Bridge.

Kante and Chelsea, who won their first match under caretaker boss Frank Lampard last weekend, return to action on Saturday against Nottingham Forest.

Arsenal have already signed Chelsea midfielder Jorginho in January and were planning a another transfer on their London rivals but will failed this time. Barca also face uncertainties about Gavi’s feature who is reportedly willing to leave Camp Nou at the end of the season.

Barca see Kante as one of the ideal men to replace Gavi when the Spaniard leaves.
