Lionel Messi became the first player in history to reach 300 club assists

Lionel Messi has registered 31 assists for PSG in all competitions.

Lionel Messi scripted yet another record when he reached 300 club assists and became the first player in history to reach this landmark after setting up a last-minute winner for Kylian Mbappe.

Incidentally, Messi in 2005 provided his first of many club career assists to Ronaldinho wearing the number 30 jersey.

Fast forward to 2023, he provided his 300th milestone club career assist to Mbappe wearing the same jersey number.

Mbappe beat the offside trap to collect a through ball from Lionel Messi in the 90th minute and rounded goalkeeper Marco Bizot to slot it into an empty net.

Messi now has 13 Ligue 1 assists this season and has 31 assists for PSG across competitions.

Messi’s achievement left fans gushing over the World Cup winner.

“That Messi left foot is worth $100B,” wrote one while another tweeted,” “The best playmaker in the history of football.”

“The greatest there was, the greatest there is, the greatest there would ever be,” wrote another on Twitter.

PSG was knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich on Wednesday and is left with winning Ligue 1. PSG leads second-placed Marseille by 11 points.
