Major windfall at Barcelona as 330milion euros for Lewandowski, Raphinha, Kounde and others

his Wednesday’s announcement of an agreement to sign Raphinha is just Barcelona’s latest piece of business in the 2022 summer transfer market.

This comes after the club’s board recently outlined an agreement to activate a second financial lever that will put the club in a good position to sign the players they need.

Selling another 15 percent of television rights will provide Barcelona with approximately 330 million euros, while the previous lever, for 10 percent and also signed with the company Sixth Street, had already generated 207.5m euros at the end of June.

The financial injection is vital. Firstly, it provides the money to sign top players. Secondly, it manages to relax the pressure on the wage bill.

The management of Joan Laporta and Eduard Romeu has been key to achieving the agreement, which puts the club in a good position.

Not all the money will be used for transfers. Barcelona are aware of the debt they have and part of the 330m euros will go towards reducing this amount, but it allows them to go to the market to sign top players.

They’ve just sorted a deal to sign Raphinha, after already adding free agents Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen.

Robert Lewandowski could be the next to arrive, but it might also be possible to sign Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso. Moving for Jules Kounde is also a possibility.

The last objective would be Bernardo Silva, but for him the transfer is a lot harder to complete because Manchester City are going to ask for a lot of money for the Portuguese, since the English club value the player at between 90m and 100m euros.
