Manchester United and Man City Carabao Cup fixture dates and TV details confirmed

Manchester United and Man City have had their Carabao Cup fourth round fixture dates confirmed, with both ties set to be televised live in the UK.

United ‘s home clash with Burnley will be broadcast on Sky Sports at 8pm on Wednesday 21 December, while City ‘s home match against Liverpool will also be shown at 8pm on Thursday 22 December.

The ties take place just days after the World Cup final in Qatar, and it is unclear whether or not the two Manchester sides will be adversely affected by the quick turnaround between the international tournament and club commitments.

Depending on which sides progress the furthest in the World Cup, both United and City could be forced to select weakened sides for the matches if they are without key players.

Vincent Kompany will return to Manchester when he brings his Burnley side to Old Trafford next month, while the following night’s clash between City and Liverpool is the standout tie of the round.

Both matches must be decided on the night, with penalty shootouts taking place at full time if the scores are tied. United booked their place in round four with a 4-2 win over Aston Villa last week, while City did so after beating Chelsea 2-0.
