Rashford and Martial strikes hand Manchester United a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace as Champions League ambitions on course

Manchester United top four finish this season that would grant them opportunity to Europe’s elite club football next season remain on course after impressive 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park Stadium on Thursday evening.

United needed to win against Palace to keep their chase for Champions League qualification on Chelsea- who beat Norwich City last Tuesday to open a 4-points gap on United and Leicester City who led Ole’s side 3 points before United kickoff.

Manchester United did exactly what is required of them despite been showed a difficult side in Crystal Palace at Selhurst.

The fifth placed side ended the first half with a 1-0 lead after Marcus Rashford broke the deadlock in stoppage time (45+1).

Ghanaian International Jordan Ayew leveled in the second half but the VAR overturned the Palace forward’s goal with the technology ruling for offside in the second half.

The home side had grew confident and increased the momentum amid grabbing the equalizer but Anthony Martial put them at bay after sealing the victory for his club with a sweet finish on the 78’ minute.

United now move to same 62 points with Leicester City but trail Chelsea a point before they face Frank Lampard’s side in FA Semifinals on Sunday.
