Man United fans desperately urge Erik ten Hag to rest Casemiro to avoid suspension for Arsenal game

Manchester United fans have desperately called on Erik ten Hag to rest Casemiro against Crystal Palace to prevent him missing the huge clash with Arsenal through suspension.

The Brazilian midfielder has been hugely influential to United’s success this season since he signed from Real Madrid in a £60million move last summer.

United face a trip to Selhurst Park on Wednesday night before returning to the capital four days later to play Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Casemiro is one of the first names of the teamsheet and United fans are fearing he will pick up a fifth yellow card of the season against Palace and miss the trip to the Emirates.

Players who pick up five yellow cards within their team’s first 19 league fixtures pick up a suspension.

Fellow Brazilian Fred is also also at risk of picking up a suspension, leaving Ten Hag at risk of missing two of his key midfielders against Arsenal.

Ahead of the game, United fans have flocked to social media to plead Ten Hag to leave Casemiro out on Wednesday night.

One user said: ‘Rest Casemiro vs Crystal Palace’ before adding ‘One booking and he misses Arsenal away, we cannot risk that’.

Meanwhile another said: ‘A tough one but we can do Fred McTominay against Crystal Palace, we cannot afford to have Casemiro absent.’

A third added: ‘We don’t need Casemiro to beat Palace tbh… Bring back McTominay/Eriksen midfield on Wednesday’.

And a fourth said: ‘Start McTominay. Maybe give Zidane some minutes. Its crucial to have Casemiro available for when we play Arsenal.’

United went to within a point of Manchester City with a 2-1 in the derby on Saturday – and they can close the gap on Arsenal to six points, should they win.

If United are to become only the second team to beat Arsenal this season, Casemiro’s presence will most likely be integral.
