AC Milan beat Cagliari to extend Seria A lead as Zlatan Ibrahimovic returns with brace to make headlines

AC Milan have extended their lead on Seria A table to three points after comfortably beating Cagliari 2-0 in Monday night football at Sardegna Arena.

Milan clubs knee on breaking Juve’s Seria A dominance after with at least second placed Inter Milan opening a seven points gap above the fifth placed and title favorites Old Ladies on the league log, but it has since been a close contest between AC and Inter as to who lift this season’s title.

Antonio Conte’s men thumbed Juve last Sunday to tie with AC Milan on top of the table with each club having 40 points prior to Stefane Pioli’s side clash with Cagliari.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic struck in two halves to hand 10-men AC Milan 2-0 victory Eusebio Di Francesco’s men as the leaders now extend their lead to 3 points off Inter Milan after 18 games.

Thanks to 39-year old Ibrahimovic who made the most headlines in Milan’s victory at Cagliari.

Ibrahimovic made his long awaited return to league action after injury to help AC Milan regain sole ownership of top spot in Serie A.

A goal either side of half time from the 39 year old was all the Rossoneri needed to ensure that they returned to the mainland with all three points as well as condemning the Isolani to their fifth straight defeat in the league.

Ibrahimovic converted a first-half penalty and doubled his tally early in the second period.
