Bayern willing to sell Kimmich to fund for Kane putting Liverpool on red alert

Liverpool’s midfield rebuild could be given a further boost, with the opportunity to sign Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich.

The Reds have made evolving their engine room a priority this summer and have already drafted in Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and RB Leipzig’s Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai for a combined fee of around £105m.

However, with Fabinho on the verge of moving to Saudi Arabian champions Al-lttihad and doubts of Jordan Henderson’s future, Jurgen Klopp still requires further reinforcements in midfield.

According to Kicker, Bayern Munich could be willing to listen to offers for midfielder Joshua Kimmich, putting Liverpool on red alert as have been an admirer of the player for some time.

Bayern are looking at a major restructuring of the Bundesliga champions, above the head of boss Thomas Tuchel, as they look to try and free up the funds to complete a deal for Harry Kane, and it has thrown the future of Kimmich in doubt.

The 28-year-old has been a key member of Munich’s most recent dominance in Germany, and had been seen as a future club captain at Bayern.

He joined the club from RB Leipzig in 2015 and has gone on to make nearly 350 appearances for Bayern, scoring 40 goals.

Kimmich has won eight Bundesliga titles in his time at the Allianz Arena, and was an instrumental cog in the club’s 2020 Champions League triumph.

However, it now looks as though he’s being pushed out the door at Bayern as they are willing to listen to offers for the versatile German, who has two years left on his current deal.

Bayern are still hopeful of completing a deal for Harry Kane, despite seeing a number of bids rejected by Tottenham, who are holding out for a fee of £120m for the England captain.

Kane is said to be keen on a move to Germany, but won’t force his way out of Spurs and had been open to all options upon his return to the club for pre-season last week.

The German champions are willing to wait until Kane is a free agent next summer, but are aware that he would then have a number of options open to him if he does let his contract at Tottenham run down.
