Chelsea ready to sell Aubameyang for just £5m this summer

Chelsea have set a fee of just £5m on the head of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the striker looks set for a move to Marseille.

The Gabonese forward arrived at Stamford Bridge in a £12m move from Barcelona last summer to link up with former boss Thomas Tuchel at the club.

However, following Tuchel’s sacking in September, Aubameyang struggled to make an impression under Graham Potter and was left out the club’s Champions League squad following a number of January arrivals.

Both the player and club are now willing to part ways, the Blues do want to let him leave on a free transfer. However, they are happy to sell the striker for £5m with Marseille set to offer Aubameyang an exit route from West London.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 34-year-old has already agreed a deal with the French club and but goal.com in France are reporting are seeking a fee for Gabon’s record goal-scorer.

Aubameyang played 21 times for Chelsea last season, scoring just three goals as he struggled to get into the team under Potter and then Frank Lampard.

Chelsea had offered the striker to Saudi Arabia, but it looks like Aubameyang is set to reignite his career in France where he previously enjoyed a spell earlier on in his career.

The forward had loan spells with Dijon, Lille and Monaco before enjoying a successful three-season stint at St-Etienne, before his move to Borussia Dortmund.

A move out of Stamford Bridge for Aubameyang would see him become the latest name to join the Chelsea exodus this summer.

The club have already offloaded Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic to rival Premier League clubs, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic have both moved to AC Milan.

Cesar Azpilicueta has ended his 11-year stay with the club to join Atletico Madrid, and the trio of N’Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly have all joined the Saudi Pro League.

The futures of Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Connor Gallagher also remain unclear, as well as Romelu Lukaku who saw a move back to Inter fall through last week.
