The clubs tipped to buy Cristiano Ronaldo in January transfer window amid Man United exit talk

Cristiano Ronaldo’s bombshell interview with Piers Morgan has further increased uncertainty surrounding his Manchester United future.

The Portuguese has endured a hugely turbulent season so far, with rifts and tension aplenty after a preferred move away from Old Trafford did not materialise.

He has had to play a bit-part role under Erik ten Hag and this week one of the biggest revelations to emerge from the TalkTV interview was Ronaldo declaring he had “no respect” for the Dutchman. That has understandably led to plenty of speculation concerning the 37-year-old’s future. He is out of contract at United at the end of the current season – though United can extend his deal by a further 12 months – but a January move had often been mooted, even before the interview dropped.

During the lengthy interview, Morgan asked Ronaldo if he will still be at United come January, to which he responded: “It’s difficult to tell right now because my mood is, right now, [focused on] the World Cup. It’s probably my last World Cup, of course, my fifth World Cup. I don’t know what’s going to happen after the World Cup, but as I told you before and I will say again, the fans will always be in my heart. And I hope they will be by my side, even if I [come] back, or if I’m not back, or if I stay or whatever.”

With regards to potential destinations, Sky Bet surprisingly put the odds of him staying put at 2/1.

They price Chelsea as the most likely club to sign him in the winter window, followed by his former club Sporting Lisbon. Further out in the pricing market, Manchester City are chalked up at 22/1 to make a bold January move for Ronaldo.

To stay at Manchester Utd 2/1

Chelsea 3/1

Sporting Lisbon 3/1
