Chelsea complete signing of Italian youth International Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan
Chelsea have completed the signing of Italian youth International Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan after announcing the transfer on club’s official website. The London side agreed a deal for the midfielder last week subjected to medicals but the youngster passed the examination on Thursday.
Chelsea complete the deal in a region of £12.6m (€15m) plus £4.2m (€5m) in potential future add-ons. Casadei has signed a 6-year deal at Stamford Bridge joining Carney Chukwuemeka signed from Aston Villa as the two midfielders are seen as back-up plan for senior men Jorginho and N’Golo Kante.
“Chelsea have completed the signing of Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan after the Italian agreed a six-year contract with the Blues, the London side announced on their website.
“The teenage midfielder is considered one of his homeland’s brightest prospects after shining at youth level for club and country, being part of the Italy side which reached the semi-finals of the European Under-19 Championship in the summer.
Casadei has been described as a complete midfielder, with an eye for goal, and joined Inter’s youth setup four years ago, aged 15.
He has represented the Italian national side across different age groups at youth level, and was part of the Italy side that reached the semi-final stage at the European U19 Championship in the summer.
The 19-year-old was named player of the season in Primavera youth division last season, plying his trade under former Inter player and U19s boss Christian Chivu.
Chelsea head of youth development Neil Bath said: “Cesare is a player we have tracked for some time and we are delighted he has now agreed to join Chelsea, where he will initially strengthen our U21s squad.
He is another exciting emerging talent who we are looking forward to seeing develop and progress further as he breaks into senior football in the coming years.’
