Didier Deschamps contract extension meeting to be held next week

Speaking to Ouest-France in an interview published today, FFF president Noël Le Graët has indicated that he would like to wrap up France manager Didier Deschamps’ contract extension in a meeting between the two next week.

They will meet in Guingamp, with the decision now up to Deschamps after reaching the objective set out to him before the World Cup, of taking Les Bleus to the semi-finals.

Le Graët’s aim is to extend the former midfielder’s deal until the Euros in 2024, when his final term as president also ends, although in the interview he mentions the possibility of Deschamps going as far as 2030.

In any case, the aim on Le Graët’s side is to have the question sorted by the end of the year – he explains that if Deschamps does not want to stay on, the discussions will be very short, but if he does want to continue after a decade in the role then longer talks would have to begin.
