Match Report: Bayern Munich 5-2 Eintracht Frankfurt, as it happened

Bayern Munich record their second straight win and first home victory after the return of the Bundesliga last weekend. After seeing off Union Berlin in emphatic 2-0 away victory last Sunday, the Bavarians dominated and sealed a 5-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at the Allianz Arena today.

An impressive performance from Bayern saw them end the first half in a 2-0 advantage. Leon Goretzka got Bayern underway striking from the six yard box in Thomas Muller’s intended cross from the left edge of the box.

The provider Muller, who scored against Union Berlin last weekend double Bayern’s lead after going one-on-one against Frankfurt keeper Kevin Trapp from Alphonso Davies’ pass. Muller played a mini pass into the air, beating Trapp to a better side of the situation before finishing calmly with his left foot.

Robert Lewandowski scored his 41st goal of the season and Bayern’s third goal of the day just a minute into the second half. However, Frankfurt was completing a surprise come back, reducing the deficit to only one, when Martin Hinteregger scored two quick goals in three minutes to make standings 3-2 in favor of the home side.

Alphonso Davies grabbed Bayern’s fourth goal before Hinteregger scored an own goal as the Bundesliga leaders end the game 5-2.

They extend their lead on the table to 4 points having saw second place Borussia Dortmund beat Wolfsburg 2-0 earlier the day.
