Sebastien Haller equals Cristiano Ronaldo by scoring in every group stage match of the Champions League and overtakes ex-Chelsea star Eden Hazard

Sebastien Haller made Champions League history by joining Cristiano Ronaldo as the only players to score in every group stage game.

The former West Ham United striker has been phenomenal for Ajax in the competition this season and, in netting against Sporting Lisbon, registered his 10th goal of the tournament.

It’s an astonishing rise for the Ivory Coast centre forward, whose goals have helped the Dutch side qualify for the last-16, having won every game in the process.

For Haller, though, he joins Ronaldo by scoring in all six games, which the Portugal legend did during the 2016/17 campaign for Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old netted four on matchday one against Sporting Lisbon, then a single strike in the next three, followed by a brace against Besiktas and another goal in his last game against the Portuguese side again.

More impressively, though, Haller has already scored more goals in the competition than former Chelsea winger Eden Hazard, despite playing just six games in the competition.

Remarkably, West Ham could only get 14 goals out of Haller during his time in East London, but Ajax have already been treated to 18 goals this season.

The striker spoke to talkSPORT earlier this year and discussed his struggles at the London Stadium as well as the decision to move to Ajax.

“At the time it was a good step to go to West Ham. The people were nice to me and the project is why I decided to move,” he said.

“After one-and-a-half years It was the best solution for both parties to separate.

“It’s never easy to understand why it was not going well and it was not perfect for me the situation in the club.”
