What Chelsea fans say about Hakim Ziyech performance after Leeds United stalemate at Elland Road

Chelsea fans have been reacting to what they thought was a disappointing performance from Hakim Ziyech against Leeds United at Elland Road today.

Chelsea fans are not happy with Hakim Ziyech’s performance against Leeds United this afternoon.

Ziyech was handed a start as part of six changes by Thomas Tuchel for the clash with Marcelo Bielsa’s men at Elland Road this lunchtime a frustrating goalless draw which saw the Blues make it 13 games unbeaten.

But he failed to seize his opportunity, having very little impact on the game before being substituted on the 69th minute, making way for Timo Werner.

Ziyech joined Chelsea on a deal worth more than £35 million from Ajax in the summer but he has struggled to make his mark at Stamford Bridge so far, leading to frustration from Blues supporters.

In 23 appearances across all competitions, Ziyech has scored twice and assisted four times, a return that doesn’t go far in explaining his large transfer fee.

Ziyech has had to be patient under Tuchel, starting four Premier League games in all, making a further appearance from the bench and missing out on five games, four of which as an unused substitute.

The 27-year-old scored eight times and 18 across Eredivisie and Champions League last season for Ajax, and it seems Chelsea fans think that if he cannot begin to replicate that sort of form soon, he may be in like for a quick exit.

Ziyech will not be helped by the intense competition in the Chelsea squad as he looks to regain form with opportunities limited given the wealth of talent at Tuchel’s disposal.

The midfielder may now be forced to be patient to get another opportunity with Tuchel likely to go with the tried and trusted against Atletico Madrid in what is a critical Champions League second leg clash during the week.
