Egypt drop down one place in latest FIFA rankings despite reaching World Cup play-off

The Egyptian national football team have moved down one place in the latest FIFA rankings becoming the fourth-ranked Arab team.

The Pharaohs played two games last month, of which they won one (2-1 against Gabon) and drew in one (2-2 against Angola).

Despite avoiding losses, Egypt’s overall ranking has dropped from 44th to 45th, keeping them at sixth place among African nations and fourth among Arab ones.

Egypt now have 1449 points, 29 behind Nigeria who are the fifth African nation in the ranking, and 59 behind Algeria who are the third-ranked Arab country.

The Egyptian national team have now lost their chance to land a place among the top five to make their World Cup qualification mission easier.

In the CAF zone, Senegal have kept their first place (20th overall), followed by Morocco (28th overall), Tunisia (29th overall), Algeria (32nd overall), and Nigeria (36th overall).

In the world rankings, Belgium maintained the top spot ahead of Brazil, France, England, and Argentina.
