Liverpool reportedly keen on signing Leeds United winger Raphinha if Salah new contract fails

Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Leeds United winger Raphinha as they still try to tie Mohamed Salah to a new contract.

The Egyptian is currently on national team duty after helping his country beat AFCON champions Senegal on Friday evening in Cairo. The victory facilitated by Salah hands Egypt a huge advantage from the first leg before they travel to Senegal for the second leg as the Reds fight for a place in Qatar 2022.

Salah is yet to put pen to paper a new contract with Liverpool, with negotiations having reportedly stalled in the past few months.

Despite being the team’s biggest star, guiding them to several trophies, and breaking records left and right along the way, the Reds are reportedly refusing Salah’s financial demands.

The 25-year-old is reportedly asking for a sum of around £300,000 and £400,000 in weekly wages, which would force them to surpass their very strict salary cap.

With negotiations having reportedly stalled since December and with the Egyptian open to a move away, the Reds have started looking for his replacement.

According to Transfermarkt, Leeds’ Raphinha, who has been impressive this season in their relegation battle, has caught the attention of the Liverpool board.

However, they are still prioritising renewing for Salah according to Football Insider, but still aren’t keen on meeting his financial demands.
