Senegal must be aware of Egypt in Playoff second leg after Mahmoud Trezeguet sending elimination warning

Egypt winger Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet has sent Senegal a warning message that they would be eliminated from the FIFA World Cup Playoff when the Reds travel for the second leg.

Trezeguet said Egypt can eliminate Senegal and reach the 2022 World Cup finals which starts in November.

The Pharaohs managed to snatch a crucial 1-0 win against Senegal in the first leg to take a slight advantage going into the away game.

The only goal of the game came in the fourth minute through an own goal by Saliou Ciss.

A brilliant through ball from Amr El-Sulya to Mohamad Salah was skilfully controlled by the Liverpool man, whose strike came off the bar, but the rebound hit Ciss before rolling into his own net.

The second leg between Egypt and Senegal is scheduled to take place next Tuesday, 29 March in Dakar at 7pm Cairo local time.

Trezeguet, who played the entire 90 minutes before being subbed-off in the final moments, said they still have a long way to go before reaching the World Cup.

“The win is a positive step towards achieving out goals , but we have a second-half in Senegal,” Trezeguet told ONTime Sport TV.

“We can win and reach the World Cup at Senegal’s expense,” he added.

Trezeguet was then asked about the 2021 AFCON final, where they lost to the Teranga Lions and how they felt following the defeat.

“We were crushed after the Africa Cup of Nations final because we put in a lot of effort to reach this stage,” he concluded.
