Chiefs set for friendly action ahead of DStv Prem return

Kaizer Chiefs who have resumed training are set to step up their preparations for the return of the Dstv Premiership with a number of friendly encounters this month.

Arthur Zwane’s side returned to training  last week Thursday, for the first time since domestic football was interrupted by the start of 2022 FIFA World Cup, ahead of the leagues resumption later this month.

Chiefs are set to take on Golden Arrows on 31 December in what will be the club’s first competitive fixture since defeating rivals Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby on 29 Otober.

Ahead of the trip to Kwa-Zulu Natal, the Amakhosi welcomed back a full squad, notwithstanding temporary set-backs for the ill Phathutshedzo Nange and Kgaogelo Sekgota and will partake in a number of friendlies to return to full fitness.

“We’ve got a few friendlies lined up and these will help us with our fitness levels before we play that competitive match on New Year’s eve against Arrows, “Zwane told the club’s website.

“We hope that no one picks up any injury during the next four weeks so we are ready for that particular game (against Arrows).”

The identity of Chief’s opponents is yet to be revealed but among those who have returned to training for the club are captain Itumeleng Khune and star striker Caleb-Bonfils Bimenyimana, who were both ruled out of the club’s recent Carling Black Label Cup campaign.
