Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena clarifies Abdelmoumain Boutouil and Peter Shalulile registration

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena has confirmed the list of players registered as foreigners, as he revealed the club’s plans to have Peter Shalulile registered as a local ahead of the expected arrival of Moroccan defender Abdelmoumain Boutouil.

Shalulile is eligible to be registered as a South African, which would free up a space for Sundowns, who are expected to make more room available in the foreign department by letting go of European striker Pavol Safranko.

Marcelo Allende, Gaston Sirino and Erwin Saavedra are the other three players registered as foreigners, according to Mokwena.

“It’s solving itself at the moment. The club is working around the clock. We work with what’s available for us. And what’s available for us now is Marcelo Allende. At this moment, Saavedra is registered, Peter is registered. Nasir is registered and those are the four foreigners. You’ve got Gaston. We are still within the legalities of the league,” Mokwena told media at Loftus, after Sundowns’ 3-0 victory over Stellenbosch.

“Peter is registered as a foreigner, (but) he is eligible for the PRP (permit residence permit), but he is registered as a foreigner until we are granted the PRP by Home Affairs. It might have been done a few days before, but I know the club is working around the clock to make sure that happens.”
