Morocco beat Solomon Islands to record first win in 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup

Morocco have stepped into big victory in 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup after beating Solomon Islands in Group C opener on Monday.

The North African side appears the first African country to record a victory in the FIFA tournament in Lithuania after Egypt in their first game, suffered a heavy defeat to last edition’s runners up Russia.

Egypt hope were high before kick-off but they were unsurprisingly beating in their opener where another of the three African representatives Angola meanwhile take on Japan later today.

Morocco burst into the 3-0 lead at the Zalgiris Arena in Kaunas after 18’ minutes when El Mesrar, Saoud and El Fenni struck on the 2’, 3’, and 18’ minutes respectively.

The North Africans were curtailed for a short period ceasing their goals rate. However, they resumed their goal scoring prowess 10’ minutes after El Fenni’s strike.

Bakkali was the man on the score sheet before Boumezou three minutes later and Borite on 34’ minutes completed Morocco’s 6-0 emphatic victory.

Hicham Dguig’s men do not only ended opening day of Group C with a huge victory, they top the table with superior 3 goal difference off another tournament favorites Portugal who beat Thailand 4-1 in the other fixture.

Morocco will face Thailand in their second game on 18th September and a victory will see them through the knockout phase of the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup.
