Egyptian handball star Ali Zein wins EHF Champions League title with Barcelona

Egyptian handball player Ali Zein has won the 2021–22 EHF Champions League title with Barcelona on Sunday.

Zein has had an outstanding start to his season with Barcelona, helping them secure the Supercopa ASOBAL and the Catalan Super Cup.

With a 30-26 win over Granollers in March, the Blaugrana lifted the Copa del Rey title to win their third trophy this season.

Barcelona added another title to their trophy cabinet last month as they sealed the Liga ASOBAL title with five games remaining following their narrow triumph over Helvetia Anaitasuna.

On Sunday, Barcelona took on Poland’s Vive Kielce in the 2021-22 EHF Champions League final in a thrilling clash that ended in a 32-32 stalemate.

As a result, the game headed to a penalty shootout as Barcelona players and Ali Zein were all on target with goalkeeper Gonzalo Perez pulling off a sublime save to earn his side a record 11th Champions league title.

Zein has now concluded his season winning five trophies with Barcelona as he is set to join Romanian champions Dinamo București after both sides reached an agreement.
