Egypt reach 2022 Arab Futsal Cup quarter-finals after beating Algeria

After beating Algeria 2-0, Egypt futsal national team have booked their spot among the 2022 Arab Futsal Cup top eight.

The Pharaohs kicked off their Arab Futsal Cup in Group 2, competing with Iraq and Algeria for the two qualification spots.

Egypt’s opening game was against Iraq, and the two sides split the game points after a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Next, Iraq beat Algeria 3-2, guaranteeing themselves a spot in the top eight, and leaving Egypt in need of a win in their second and final group stage clash.

The Egyptians successfully got what they wanted from the Algeria game, emerging on top with a 2-0 victory, topping the group, and accompanying Iraq to the quarterfinals.

In their top eight clash, Egypt will be facing Mauritania who qualified despite placing third in Group 1 (as one of the best third-place finishers) behind Morocco and Kuwait.

In the three other sides of the quarterfinals, Morocco are up against Libya, hosts Saudi Arabia face Kuwait, and Iraq will be clashing with Palestine.

It’s worth noting that Egypt were the runner ups in the last edition of the Futsal Arab Cup as they lost last year’s final to Morocco.
