Senegal beat Egypt in second game of 2021 Women’s AfroBasket Championship in Yaounde

Egypt women basketball team have lost against Senegal in their second group stage match of the 2021 Women’s AfroBasket tournament.

The 2021 Women’s AfroBasket is taking place in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from the 17th to the 26th of September.

The Pharaohs start their journey in Group C alongside Guinea and Senegal, as each group consists of only three teams.

The first clash for the Egyptians took place on Sunday against Guinea, and the result wasn’t a surprise as they gained their first two points from their 102-58 win.

The second game didn’t go as planned for Egypt as they were trailing from the get go against their Senegalese counterpart, with the first quarter ending 21-15.

They second quarter was no different as Senegal extended their lead to 14 points and ended the first-half ahead 25-39.

The Pharaohs continued to struggle for the entirety of the second-half against the 11 times Afrobasket champions and went on to lose 63-78. They now sit second in their group with three points, behind Senegal (4) and ahead of Guinea (2).

Egypt will now face Tunisia, who finished bottom of Group D, for a spot in the quarterfinal next Wednesday with the winner facing either Cameroon or Kenya.
