Alexandria Sporting Club beat Zamalek to lift Women Handball Egypt Cup

Alexandria Sporting Club have beaten Zamalek in the final of the Women’s Handball Egypt Cup after a very close battle.

Zamalek had to beat Al-Tayaran in the semi-final to reach this stage of the tournament, while Alexandria SC beat Al Ahly.

A low-scoring first-half saw the White Knights come out on top 9-8. The game continued to go back and forth in the second half and the score was 22-22 with less than one minute to go.

The Alexandria giants then managed to snatch the win with 20 seconds, before missing a chance to further increase their lead a few moments later.

Less than ten seconds before the final whistle, Zamalek had a counterattack but failed to convert their chance to officially hand their rivals the title.

This trophy marks Alexandria SC’s second Egypt Cup title in the last three seasons, with Al Ahly winning the previous edition.
