Swallows FC have avoided possible revolt just a day before taking on Orlando Pirates

Swallows FC have avoided a possible revolt just a day before taking on Orlando Pirates by honouring their promise to pay their players, Soccer Laduma source has been informed.

Murmurs of a possible player strike started doing the rounds with senior players at the club had only been paid half of their July salaries, with a promise from the club that they would receive the full amounts at a later stage.

The promise to the players was for 4 August.

According to two independent Soccer Laduma source, players had grown disgruntled by the delay in their payment and talk of a possible boycott of Saturday’s match against Pirates surfaced.

However, the Siya crew has since been informed that the players had received their full salaries, as initially promised by the club.

This could be seen as a welcomed morale booster ahead of the original Soweto Derby.

Swallows will be hoping for a better showing this campaign, having survived relegation by virtue of the relegation/promotion play-offs in the 2021/22 season.
