Al Hilal complete signing of defender Imoro Ibrahim from Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko

Sudanese side Al Hilal Omdurman have completed the signing of defender Imoro Ibrahim from Ghana Premier League champions Asante Kotoko. The national team player has  reportedly signed 3 years.

Asante Kotoko left back, Ibrahim Imoro has completed his move to Sudanese Premier League champions, Al Hilal Omdurman.

Hilal are expected to pay an initial sum of US$150,000, as a transfer fee.

The former Karela United defender completed his mandatory medical on Wednesday.

Hilal won the Sudan Premier League with 77 points. The Sudanese giant will feature in the 2022/2023 CAF Champions League.

Imoro was one of the outstanding players for the Reds this season, playing a pivotal role in the club’s quest to win the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League title.

The promising defender tops the best playmakers list in the league with 9 assists. He has also scored two goals, taking his goal involvement to 11, the most by a defender in the Ghana Premier League.

Added to his exceptional attributes as a modern-day full-back is his brilliant set of pieces ability. Most of his assists have come from set-pieces with his goals being from direct freekicks.

The 22-year old joined Asante Kotoko three seasons ago from Karela United and has ever since cemented the left-back position. Even before making a move to Kotoko, Imoro was already a national team material featuring for the Local Black Stars- recently named as Black Galaxies. Imoro was part of the squad to reach finals of the 2019 WAFU tournament in Senegal only losing on penalties to the hosts.

Despite accumulated experience in career, Imoro rose to household name in Ghana football this season after helping Asante Kotoko to win the Ghana Premier League season, the first time he has lifted a major trophy in career.

The left-back was arguable Kotoko’s top performing defender last season and the second best player of the setup after Franck Thierry Etouga Mbella who netted 21 league goals to emerge as the second top scorer of the Ghana Premier League.

Imoro has developed his set piece abilities scoring some interesting free kicks from behind the box in the course of last term, with that one of the reasons several clubs are interested in the left-back.

The likes of Royal Antwerp, Al Ahly, ES Setif and recently Al Hilal have shown interest in Imoro Ibrahim since the opening of the summer transfer window. And now Hilal have landed the Ghanaian International after a breakthrough on Wednesday.

Al Hilal and Asante Kotoko reportedly reached agreement over the sale of the left-back on a 5-year deal but has signed two years with option for a year extension. The Sudanese side will complete the deal to a region of $410,000.

Al Hilal will pay the Ghanaian champions an initial fee of $150,000 upfront with the amount expected to rise to $400,000 should Imoro Ibrahim help the Sudanese win the CAF Champions League, Confederation Cup and Sudanese Premier

Imoro’s departure may come as a blow for most Kotoko fans who wish most of their squad are kept ahead of the Africa Champions League campaign. The Sudanese side are also weighing the chances of signing Kotoko’s first choice goal-keeper Ibrahim Danlad who also manned Ghana’s CHAN qualifier against Benin.
