GPL giants Asante Kotoko reportedly capture Cameroonian shot-stopper Moise Pouaty from Colombe Sport

Asante Kotoko have reportedly signed Cameroonian goal-keeper Moise Pouaty from Colombe Sport on a 3-year deal, according to reports in Ghana.

The Ghana Premier League side have been slow in the transfer window after announcing deal for only two players, Ugandan forward Steven Dese Mukwala from Ugandan Revenue Authority on a 2-year deal and Frederick Asare from Ghana Premier League outfit Accra Lions.

The Porcupine Warriors are expected to add more players to the current squad with a host of players expected to leave in return for a new challenge. With three players Fabio Gama, Mudasiru Salifu and Imoro Ibrahim already departed, new set could leave before closure of the transfer window and that include second choice goal-keeper Kwame Baah.

Baah has been linked with former club Inter Allies, King Faisal, newly promoted side Samatex FC and Tanzanian side Azam FC. The keeper’s departure means Kotoko have no choice but to bring in additions to backup first choice Ibrahim Danlad with a sense of someone who can equally match the first choice duties prioritized.

For the last two weeks, Accra Lions’ Fredrick Asare and Bechem United’s Abdulai Iddrisu were the two favorites with a move to Asante Kotoko after heavily been linked.

Those deals were thought to have never materialized but the Kumasi-based side have managed to sign Accra Lions’ Fredrick Asare with the signing of another keeper goal-keeper on Kotoko’s radar.

The Ghanaian side may have contacted a Cameroonian sports agency for that additional goal-keeper after learning Cameroonian players moving to the Ghana Premier League has gradually become a new trend in African football transfers.

Last season, Kotoko signed duo Franck Thierry Etouga Mbella and George Mfegue from AS Fortuna du Mfou and Avion Academy respectively.

This term, a duo of Junior Kaaba and Yassin Ouatching has joined Hearts of Oak, and Kotoko have added another Cameroonian shot-stopper Moise Pouaty though the Ghanaian champions have not confirmed the deal.

Pouaty joined Colombe Sport from AS Fortune du Mfou at the beginning of last season after completing a 50,000 Dollars transfer in January 2022. The 26-year old is Kotoko’s third signing this season after Mukwala and Asare, and the Red’s third Cameroonian in two years after Mbella and Mfegue.

Pouaty previously had stints at Union Douala, Fortuna Du Mfuo and American second-tier outfit Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.  The goal-keeper is understood to have signed a 3-year contract at Asante Kotoko with official announcement expected to come this week.
